Resonances in the cardiovascular system caused by rhythmical muscle tension.
Paced 0.1 Hz breathing causes high-amplitude HR oscillation, triggering resonance in the cardiovascular system (CVS). This oscillation is considered to be a primary therapeutic factor in HRV biofeedback treatments. This study examined whether rhythmical skeletal muscle tension (RSMT) can also cause 0.1 Hz resonance in the CVS, and compared oscillatory reactivity in CVS functions caused by RSMT and paced breathing (PB). Sixteen young healthy participants completed five tasks: baseline, three RSMT tasks at frequencies of 0.05, 0.1, and 0.2 Hz, and a 0.1 Hz PB task. ECG, respiration, finger pulse, and skin conductance data were collected. Results showed that 0.1 Hz RSMT as well as 0.1 Hz PB triggered resonance in the CVS and caused equivalent oscillations in all measured CVS functions, although in women, RSMT compared to PB caused lower HR oscillation. Clinical application of 0.1 Hz RSMT is discussed.

When a person is diagnosed with cancer and should they decide to pursue traditional allopathic treatment, most certainly they will be faced with having to endure the ravages chemotherapy. As chemotherapy is intended to attack the cancerous cells, it is very logical that these chemicals will cause numerous problems for the healthy parts of the body. The result is nausea, hair loss, and a series of mental issues such as depression, anxiety, and a general feeling of helplessness.
Most cancer patients to go this route passively accept the ravages of chemotherapy. It is very rare that someone...
It is difficult to live a life without some form of regret. By the time that you reach adolescence, you probably have developed a substantial list of things you wish you hadn’t said, hadn’t done, or failed to say or do. Then by the time you reach your middle age years or even later in life, that list seems to be almost encyclopedic in size. Furthermore, we often have others – who may think that they are well-meaning – who communicate by telling us that the reason that we need to do or say something is to satisfy others. And, if we don’t, we will be sorry later. Yes, parents, teachers, and...
How can hypnosis used to affect community health? Community health is a public health concept that involves the betterment of health in a variety of communities. As health, which the same thing as well-being, can be influenced by cultural phenomena, it should be rather obvious that it is related to prevailing attitudes and values. These are patterns. As every hypnotist knows, patterns may be healthy or unhealthy.
Individuals and families have very specific attitudes when it comes to diet, social interaction, exercise, sanitation, immunization, in sexual activity. If someone were to study...
